True repentance isn’t merely turning away from something evil. It’s turning away from something inferior towards someone perfect, Jesus Christ, the Spotless Lamb, the perfect sacrifice, who sacrificed His dignity, body, and life for you while you were still broken, desperate, hopeless, depressed, tarnished by sin, and lost.
Once saved by grace through faith, our repentance towards Jesus allows us to turn away from an inferior kingdom and culture and enter into a New Kingdom, bloodline, and family, the Kingdom of God, built on the Love of God.
Repentance is an invitation into relationship, a relationship with the King of kings, the Messiah, the God of Heaven and Earth. You are forever His. He paid a great price for you.
Galatians 4:6-7 NASB
Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
